Sunday School at Unity of Houston

Our Sunday School curriculum is designed to awaken the innate wisdom and divine qualities within each child in a safe and loving environment

Sunday School at Unity welcomes your children!

Our Sunday School classes offer an introduction to Unity principles and concepts, meditation, affirmative prayer, and more in age-appropriate ways that create space for questioning, discovery of their innate gifts and wisdom, and spiritual growth for children of all ages.
We welcome all children and youth to our Sunday School Program whether they are registered or not.

On Sunday Mornings:

  • Parents, please sign your kids in at their classrooms, and then take them to Wallet Hall for Pre-session activities.
  • Teens will sign in and meet in Wallet Hall.

  • All Sunday School Classrooms are located in the Youth & Family Ministry building (across the Courtyard from the Bookstore). Each classroom is designated according to age/grade level.
  • Presession Activities:  From 10:45 am – 11:15 am all of the kids (except the Nursery) are invited to meet in Wallet Hall for games and activities.  At 11:15 am the teachers then take the kids to the classrooms for an interactive and creative spiritual lesson.
  • It is our vision to create fun, dynamic, and interactive classrooms in which Unity Principles are presented at age appropriate levels.  The children can use these principles in everyday life to help them navigate their relationships, activities, and challenges.

Nursery

  • For ages 6 weeks – 3 years
  • Our nursery provides a loving, nurturing, and safe environment for the little ones to play and have fun. Sunday School for this age group is all about having fun while they learn about God and themselves.
  • The curriculum that we use in this room is called ā€œTruth for Tots.ā€ This is a Unity based curriculum which aims to help toddlers discover their own uniqueness as individual expressions of God, along with teaching them about God’s love and world. This is done mainly through songs and interactive activities.

Pre-School

  • For ages 3, 4 & 5 years
  • Our Pre-School classes focus on Basic Unity Principles through the use of stories, playtime, games, arts & crafts, music and a snack. The curriculum we currently use in this classroom is called ā€œWhat a Wonderful World.ā€ Sunday School for this age group is all about having fun while they learn about God and themselves.

Kinder/1st Grade

  • The children in this classroom use the Unity based curriculum called What a Wonderful Worldā€. They discover key spiritual concepts through games, arts and crafts, storytelling and music. Storytelling is a central element of this curriculum. Through story, we can experience spiritual principles and begin to understand how they are operating in our own lives. After all, Jesus used storytelling as one of his main tools for teaching spiritual law.
  • We recognize that children learn through multiple intelligences, and our program is designed to allow all children the opportunity to engage, explore and enjoy!

2nd/3rd

  • Our 2nd/ 3rd Graders discover the world of the Bible, Unity teachings, and other key spiritual concepts through activities like storytelling, games, arts and crafts, watching and participating in drama, and music.
  • The Unity based curriculum that we use in this classroom is ā€œCelebrating My God Self.ā€ Each lesson is designed to ā€˜draw forth’ truth or life principles from the child. We call this A Living Curriculum. In each lesson, this approach relates to one of the issues a child faces in life. Thus, the lessons are issue-based and endeavor to meet the child where they are now.
