The Many Faces of the Ego

Rev. Michael Gott

From a psychological perspective, the ego is necessary. We all need a healthy ego to navigate the 3-D world. From a spiritual perspective, we often speak of the ego as “any part of our identity that doesn’t fully know we are one with Spirit.” From this lens, it’s easy to understand how the ego can keep us from our deeper purpose in life. When we are playing various roles in our lives, we are unable to fully express our authenticity. As we grow spiritually, we can develop a keener sensitivity and become aware of our ego and its motivations more quickly. And then we become free to live a life of purpose and meaning.

Parents: Please sign your kids in at their classrooms, and then take them to Wallet Hall for Pre-session activities.
