Barbara Brown Taylor says, “We have forgotten the natural rhythm of work and rest and replaced it with the unnatural one of exertion and exhaustion.” I think many of us can feel this—in our culture, in our schedules, in our bodies. The practice of sabbath is an ancient one. But how often do we truly withdraw from the world? Even in our down time, nowadays we often end up scrolling through social media or numbing out it other unhealthy ways rather than resting. It’s counterintuitive, but resting is actually hard work. But it is work that is deeply restorative, that brings us once more into health and balance.
Parents: Please sign your kids in at their classrooms, and then take them to Wallet Hall for Pre-session activities from 10:30 – 11:00.
