Occasionally, Unity in the Community hosts a Lunch & Learn, featuring speakers from Houston organizations serving in our Unity of Houston areas of community outreach: child advocacy, hunger, and homelessness. These speakers are among the foremost thought leaders in our region, sharing their perspectives on the issues facing the Houston area. 

At Unity of Houston, reaching out into the community is a proactive way in which we live the principles we believe – that we are all spiritually connected, one to another.  In this belief, when one consciousness is raised, it in turn raises the consciousness of us all.  We connect to our Oneness by working with others to help those in need.

About Nicole Lander: Nicole Lander is the Chief Impact Officer at the Houston Food Bank, where she leads strategy, operations, and programs that expand access to food and strengthen community impact. A registered dietitian with more than 20 years of experience in food systems, public health, and nonprofit leadership, she has helped drive major initiatives that improve efficiency, increase meals served, and support long-term stability for families.

Her leadership has included developing the Food for Change philosophy, expanding the food bank’s kitchen capacity, and building its first in-house research team to guide data-driven decisions. Nicole’s career reflects a deep commitment to equity, systems change, and measurable results.
