For the entire history of humanity, people have gathered in the long dark nights of winter around the light. It is a powerful spiritual practice that points us to the deepest truth – no matter what the difficulties we may face, the light of God is always present.

Here at Unity of Houston, our Christmas Eve candle lighting services have become our most beloved tradition. We gather to sing and be lifted by the music, to pray together, to be inspired by our teaching, but most of all to share in the light. As we light our individual candles, we are reminded of who and what we are. Jesus said, “Don’t you know? You are the light of the world.” We take this light out into our lives and truly we become the change we wish to see in the world.

Inspiring music arranged by Dr. David York featuring the Unity Choir, SheVon Jacob, Kenneth Gayle, Julia Laskowski, Tony Glover, and Rev. Michael Gott accompanied by string quartet, brass, and the outstanding Unity of Houston Band.
