February Theme: “To Live in Love“
Our English word “love” is wonderful, but limited. The fact that we use it to describe the way we feel about a new TV show and our children tells us something about its broadness. There are 4 Greek words translated to “love” in English used in the Christian Bible. Each has a distinct emphasis and meaning. Storge, Eros, Philia, and Agape. We will study the metaphysics of each of these in scripture and in spiritual practice as we commit in a greater way to “Live in Love.” It’s needed now more than ever.
February 28: “Agape: The Love of the Divine”
To complete the series, we will explore Agape, the unconditional love of God for all. We will also have our annual culmination and celebration of Black History Month. Our teaching calls us to embody God’s love for all of creation, because we are one with God, expressions of Spirit. To honor the diversity of humanity and of our community is a natural expression of Agape. To celebrate and honor the contributions and achievements of African Americans is a beautiful way for our community to complete our series “To Live in Love.”
