July Talk Series: “Many Paths, One Door”
Unity holds a unique place in the world’s religions and traditions. We are followers of Jesus’s teachings, but we have been enriched by the teachings of all the great faiths since our very inception. We are, as writer Marcus Borg puts it, “Passionately, but not exclusively Christian.” For this series, we will explore both the commonalities and the distinctions of the world’s great faith traditions. We will seek the golden thread of truth in all as we seek to find our own unique path on the journey of our becoming.
Sunday, July 25: “Mysticism: The Underground River”
All of the world’s religions are fed by an “underground river” of Truth that the human spiritual experience shares. While not all truths are expressed in all traditions nor are they necessarily interpreted alike, there are commonalities that unite them. What we teach as Unity principles are drawn from many of these truths by co-founders Charles and Myrtle Fillmore who outlined the principles from their study of world religions and Christian scriptures. Let us explore the common human spiritual experience and drink from the “living waters” of mysticism.
