About Cindy Wigglesworth:
“Painting, for me, is a meditation and a prayer of gratitude. I choose subjects that inspire me with their beauty or whimsy, or touch me with a feeling. “I love painting in watercolors because there is a translucence – an inner shine – that is unique to this medium. Watercolorists almost never use white paint. The white is the cotton paper, or the canvas, or the clay board underneath. This white light coming through has a lovely, spiritual quality to me.
“I would describe my style as realism with a touch of impressionism. I paint from photo references, but will alter things as needed to improve the painting. I am addicted to strong color…so most of my paintings are loud with color!
Cindy is a member of Unity of Houston. She volunteers as co-director of the Healing the Heart of America Series. She also teaches classes, and volunteers on other projects like the Hurricane Harvey Relief Leadership Team, and the drafting team for our new Purpose and Values statements. She is the author of the book SQ21: The Twenty-One Skills of Spiritual Intelligence.
About Carla Gauthier:
Carla’s work combines her love of architectural detail and attention to qualities of light that transform commonplace scenes. The result is a body of works that read like snapshots….people going about their daily life, oblivious to us looking on, and their story is allowed to unfold.
Born and educated in Canada, Carla Gauthier has lived and worked in the U.S. and Europe, and now resides in Houston, Texas where she continues to paint and teach. While earning her BA in Fine Art and Art History, and her Bachelor of Education, she continued to paint in watercolors and oils. An education in traditional drawing and printmaking provided her a solid base in image making.
Carla is a signature member of the prestigious National Watercolor Society, the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour and an Elite member of the Watercolor Art Society – Houston. She has shown with these and other organizations in their regional, national and international shows, and has paintings in collections throughout Canada, the United States and Europe.
