July Talk Series: “Many Paths, One Door”
Unity holds a unique place in the world’s religions and traditions. We are followers of Jesus’s teachings, but we have been enriched by the teachings of all the great faiths since our very inception. We are, as writer Marcus Borg puts it, “Passionately, but not exclusively Christian.” For this series, we will explore both the commonalities and the distinctions of the world’s great faith traditions. We will seek the golden thread of truth in all as we seek to find our own unique path on the journey of our becoming.
Sunday, July 18: “The Gifts from the East”
Rev. Michael has often joked that Unity is “a Christian church with a Hindu soul.” It is true that in many of the ways that we differ from traditional Christian theology, we are aligned with the non-dualistic teachings of the world’s great eastern faiths, Hinduism and Buddhism. We welcome this understanding of Oneness, as well as the practices of meditation and mindfulness that these religions have offered to the world. What does it mean to honor our western heritage and to fully receive the gifts of the east?

Our Sunday morning services are open for in-person attendance and they are livestreamed. They are our most well-attended services during the week. These services incorporate an uplifting music program, guided meditation and a positive, thought-provoking message delivered.
